I replaced an eight year old 6-CIA pump in my back yard waterfall. I thought to defeat the switch, but if the pond goes low, the unit will shut off and would not burn out.
I bought one of these pumps about 8 yrs. ago & it finally quit. I used it as a sump pump in a crawl space. Worked great. My father owned a Little Giant sump pump like this one for 19 yrs till the switch finally started acting up. I found this great deal online for a new pump, so I talked him into buying a new one and we fixed the old up to be used as a back-up. I was so impressed with the quality and reliability that I purchased a Little Giant for myself and replaced my current sump that has a float switch that regularly goes bad. My sump runs a LOT more than my father's so we will see if this Little Giant gives me the same longevity and reliability.

Same pump as original type installed 11 years ago. Switch went bad. Replaced complete pump instead of replacing switch. Fits in pit nicely with a Bulldog battery backup pump.
We have nine years on a Little Giant sump pump and it is still running. However, it is covered in rust.
