BLANCO FAQ's What kind of stainless steel does BLANCO use?
"surgical grade" stainless steel is non-porous, hygienic, rust-free and extremely durable. This premium grade of stainless steel is considered to be the best formulation for residential sink manufacturing.
What does the gauge of the stainless steel mean?
The gauge is the thickness of the stainless steel. An easy rule of thumb is, the lower the number of the gauge, the thicker and better the stainless steel. Therefore, 18 gauge is better than 20 gauge. Most BLANCO stainless steel sinks are 18 gauge, with the exception of BLANCOSPEX sinks, which are 20 gauge (however, still an excellent gauge!)
What does chrome-nickel content mean?
Chrome-Nickel content refers to the percentage of chrome and nickel in the stainless steel. Chrome gives the stainless steel its luster & durability, while the nickel is for the hardness & strength. 18/10 Stainless Steel means it contains 18% Chromium or Chrome and 10% Nickel. A sink with an 18/10 chrome-nickel content is considered to be an excellent grade, due to its corrosive resistance and greater durability. All BLANCO Platinum Series & BLANCO PRECISION sink models are 18/10, while BLANCOSPEX and BLANCOMAGNUM sinks have an 18/8 grade.
What kind of finish does BLANCO stainless steel sinks have? Most BLANCO stainless steel sinks have what is called a satin polished finish. This elegant finish creates an enduring, easy-to-clean luster that is impervious to water stains and calcium deposits. The satin polished finish is created by performing numerous hand and machine buffing operations that produce a beautiful luster. We also offer a satin finish for our BLANCOSPEX sink models. The satin finish has more of a brushed appearance.
What kind of undercoating is applied on BLANCO Stainless Steel sinks? Sound deadening pads are installed on all Platinum Series models to eliminate unwanted sounds, such as the garbage disposal growl. On our BLANCOSPEX, BLANCOSPEX PLUS and BLANCOMAGNUM sink models, a deluxe undercoating is applied, eliminating condensation, retaining water temperature and providing maximum sound absorption.
Can you explain the features of a Blanco Silgranit sink? SILGRANIT is manufactured of 80% rock hard granite. Features of SILGRANIT include heat resistancy up to 536° F, stain, scratch & chip resistancy, impervious to acids & alkalis, easy to clean & maintain, colored all the way through and guaranteed with our no-hassle limited lifetime warranty.
What is P.V.D.? P.V.D. (Physical Vapor Deposition) is a method of vaporizing, and ionizing high purity metals and gases to form a film-like metal compound that coats BLANCO brass sinks and faucets. The process takes place under airtight, contaminant-free conditions in a sealed vacuum chamber. Key features of this "state-of-the-art" process include: unequaled elegance, durability and depth, with exceptional resistance to abrasion and chemicals and four times harder than natural brass. Note: Blanco does not use the cheaper "clear" topcoat process that can be scratched or discolored by sunlight.
Why are most BLANCO sink drains rear-positioned? Rear sink drains maximize the "functionality" and "usable" bowl bottom space inside the bowl as well as create extra cabinet storage areas beneath the sink, by installing drain pipes and garbage disposals to the rear or back of the kitchen cabinet.
Can a Blanco kitchen faucet adapt to thick solid surface tops as well as the thinner sink only installations? Yes, Blanco Kitchen Faucets feature a "reversible" installation hub that can adapt to almost any installation thickness – thick or thin.
Should my water lines at the kitchen sink be flushed prior to the installation of my new Blanco faucet? Yes, no matter how new or old a home may be or whose faucet you've purchased; always flush the lines to prevent sediment from clogging the faucet, ultimately causing poor performance and/or leakage.
